The Vitality of Regular Fluid Maintenance

Many are the times when we forget that our cars just like our bodies are complex machines. With this complexity comes the need for regular replacement or maintenance. Mostly we only remember to deal with parts and forget the fluids that are important in the functioning of these components.

There are different fluids in a car as mentioned below together with their functions and when they should be replaced.

  • Engine oil. It is mainly used in lubricating the moving parts within the engine thus preventing corrosion. It should be changed at least after 3,000 miles, depending on your vehicle's owner's manual.
  • Power steering fluid. It protects the power steering and gear unit components from grinding against each other. Needs to be checked at least once every month.
  • Coolant. It helps in regulating the heat in the radiator making it avoid overheating.
  • Braking fluid. It moves the different parts of the braking system. It should be replaced once in every two years.
