At Winner Ford, we're always looking for ways to keep our drivers in the Middletown, Odessa, and Dover area updated on the upcoming Ford releases. While there are plenty of 2018 models that are gearing up for a release, drivers have expressed their excitement and anticipation for the 2018 Ford Explorer release date. While we can't exactly say the specific date that this upcoming SUV will debut, we're more than happy to give drivers a few updates about what this iconic vehicle will feature.
2018 Ford Explorer: Updated Appearance
The 2018 Ford Explorer features a few new design implementations that may be hard to spot to the untrained eye. Most notably, the vehicle will feature a newer grille as well as redesigned fog lamps to add to its sleek appearance while providing a better view during misty driving. What may be the major change of the Ford Explorer is the four tail pipes that come included with the vehicle's most aggressive engine option. Drivers also have a few new colors to choose from, such as Cinnamon Glaze, Burgundy Velvet Tinted Clearcoat, Platinum Dune Tricoat, and Blue Metallic.
2018 Ford Explorer: Power & Performance Options
The Ford Explorer engine power hasn't changed drastically, which is a relief. The base-level 3.5L V6 will continue to impress with its ability to deliver 290 horsepower, and the optional 2.3L EcoBoost® will add 280 horsepower to the mix while improving fuel efficiency. Drivers who are looking for top-notch power can always rely on the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, which delivers a whopping 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
Improved Technology
The 2018 Ford Explorer will come with its expected amenities and technology, most notably the SYNC® system. However, the upcoming release will feature a few new additions that drivers can choose to include. These updates include the 4G LTE Connection and the included Wi-Fi hotspot. The Wi-Fi allows for up to 10 devices to connect within a 50-foot radius.
Optional Safety Technology
Technology enthusiasts will love that the 2018 Ford Explorer will feature optional driver-assisting technology features. The blind spot information system will aid drivers on the highway by informing them of objects in their path when they're trying to change lanes. Adding more convenience on the highway is adaptive cruise control, which uses radar technology to detect moving vehicles ahead so it can change the cruising speed if necessary. This addition also includes collision warning and brake support. The cross-traffic alert adds more precision to the rearview camera by detecting oncoming traffic of objects in your path when you're in reverse. Lastly, the lane-keeping assist system will ensure that your vehicle stays on its intended path.
