With the changing of the seasons, there are few things you can do to make sure your Ford vehicle is ready for the temperature drops and potential rain and snow ahead. We have compiled this list of a few simple maintenance checks you can make on your own or with the help of our service department to make sure your Ford is running in tip-top shape for the fall season!

Check Your Battery
The beginning of the fall season is a great time to check on the condition of your battery! Lift up the hood of your Ford model and make sure that the battery's terminals and cables are snug and tighten them as necessary to ensure good contact. If your battery's connections are looking corroded or dirty, you can disconnect them and clean them with a cleaning tool or wire brush. Need a new battery? Give our parts department a call!

Clean Your Headlights
As your Ford vehicle ages, the headlights can grow hazy or cloudy, especially if you typically park outside a majority of the time. These dirty headlights definitely don't look great but they are much more than just a cosmetic problem. These hazy headlights can reduce the effectiveness of your Ford's headlights by up to 80%! You can utilize a headlight restoration kit or book an appointment with our service department to get your headlights looking brand new!

Check the Condition of Your Tires
Safety and fuel economy are just two things impacted by the condition of your tires. When preparing for the fall season and checking over the rest of your vehicle, it's a great time to inspect your tires and their tread. You can check your tire tread by inserting a quarter into the tread and if it the tread stops before it reaches  George Washington's hairline, it's below 1/8th of an inch and its time for a new set! You can order a new set from our parts department with ease. If you are tire tread is still in good condition, you should still consider book a service appointment to make sure they are rotated and properly inflated so they wear evenly.

Check the Condition of the Windshield Wipers
With fall comes rain and snow and it's important to make sure that your windshield wipers are in good condition so you can see while on the road. Wipers tend to degrade pretty quickly as they do a lot of work and need to be changed every 6 to 12 months. Making it a habit to change them every fall can save you a lot of trouble when the bad weather does hit.

Car Wash and Wax
Cleaning off the bugs and tree sap before the snow and salt from winter wrecks it's own havoc on your Ford vehicle is an important part of fall maintenance. Cleaning your Ford regularly can help keep the paint in good condition. Applying wax can keep it in even better condition, especially if you typically park outside.

These fall maintenance tasks are all incredibly easy for our parts and service departments to take care of. If you want to ensure that your Ford model is ready for the colder weather ahead and you live in the Dover area, book an appointment with our service department and order the necessary parts from our parts department!
