When the 2017 Ford Explorer is your main source of transportation around the Middletown, Odessa, and Dover area, you'll want to do everything you can to keep it in great condition. While the occasional wash and wax can be helpful at keeping the exterior looking its best, what about underneath the hood? When you want your Ford Explorer to last years and perform like new, your best bet is to follow its maintenance schedule.

Our team at Winner Ford is going to help you by showing you the maintenance schedule to your Ford Explorer. You'll learn about the many services that your SUV requires in order to perform at its best and remain in good shape. Following this schedule will help you get the most out of your Ford Explorer.

Making Sense of Your Maintenance Schedule

The most important thing to take note of when going over your maintenance schedule is to remember to have the specific services repeated at their specific mileage interval. You'll see these mileage intervals in your maintenance schedule that correlate with a few services. Each time you add the specific mileage to your vehicle, you should have those services repeated to ensure that your Ford Explorer is getting the right care.

Your Ford Explorer Maintenance Schedule

  • 10,000 Miles. When you hit 10,000 miles in your Ford Explorer, there are a few services you should have performed in order to maintain its stellar performance. Most notably, this service interval consists of the oil change and the oil filter replacement. However, you'll also want to have your tires checked and rotated. You'll also need to have your cooling system, exhaust system, and braking system inspected and your steering linkage, ball and suspension joints, and drive-shafts all lubricated and inspected.
  • 20,000 Miles. On top of the services above, all you have to add to the list is a cabin air filter replacement.
  • 30,000 Miles. The only thing new to add with this service interval is your engine air filter replacement.
  • 100,000 Miles. After you've had your routine services and inspections performed over 90,000 miles, this service interval incorporates a few new items to add to the ever-growing list. At this point, you'll need to have your accessory drive belts inspected. In terms of replacement, you'll need to change your platinum spark plugs and have your orange coolant changed out.
  • 150,000 Miles. If you've made it this far, it means that you've taken great care of your Ford Explorer and had the necessary services performed. You're not through yet, though, because this service interval is a major one. If you haven't had your accessory belts replaced yet, now's the time. You'll need to have your orange coolant changed out again. The only new service that's included during this visit is that you'll need to have your automatic transmission fluid changed.
