
Here in Dover, DE we are excited for the fall season in full swing, there are a great number of festivals, attractions and seasonal community activities that are fun for the entire family and just a car drive away! With cooler temperatures and scenic changes, taking a longer road trip is a great way to spend more time outdoors in nature. Delaware also features a lot of great cultural and harvest based festivals and fairs all around our state. Here are a few trips that caught our eye and that you can take during this fall season!
Ladybug Music Festival in Milford
Inspired by Dover's very own Firefly Festival, the Ladybug Music Festival features many local emerging artists. Since its inception just over half a decade back, the festival has brought in thousands of visitors enjoying great music. The festival is completely free of charge, welcoming attendees of all ages providing family-friendly entertainment and activities for the entire afternoon and evening on Saturday, September 21st.
Fall Fest Saturday's at Fifer's in Wyoming
Apple picking and farm festivals are two fun outdoor activities that are timeless traditions. The Fall Fest Saturday's at Fifer's features a great slew of activities for ages of 2 and older who are looking for some fun fall outdoor activities. Each Saturday from September 21st all the way through October 26th, Fifer Orchards is opening their doors with their corn maze fun park, farm tractor tour, apple picking and more! The farm offers great activities for children and up with face painting, super straw slides, corn crib, and other fun games!
Saengerbund Oktoberfest in Newark
Strap on your Lederhosen and Dirndl for some good old fashioned German celebration this fall! In Newark DE from September 20th-22nd, the Delaware Saengerbund and Library Association are throwing on a traditional Oktoberfest celebration, featuring an open parade, great music and entertainment, and German specialty foods including Bratwurst and Frankfurters. The Enzian Volkstanzgruppe, a Bavarian dance group, will perform intermittently throughout the entire festival as well as German music provided by an in-house band.
Haunted Attractions in Delaware
If you are looking for a spooky fall season, Delaware has many attractions just for you throughout the fall season. Looking for some haunted historical locations? Just spend a day at the 1800s military facility Fort Delaware in Delaware City, rated one of the most haunted places on the planet. There are also a large number of various haunted mansions and hotels spread around the state and festivals/events put on to scare your socks off.
NASCAR Fall Race Weekend in Dover
Taking a local trip to experience a driving performance of a different kind this October; the high-octane action of NASCAR drivers can be seen at Dover's very own International Speedway. This entire weekend is packed, featuring multiple different races and stages to showcase off the best of the best. We definitely will be keeping our eye out for the 400-mile Monster Energy Cup Series race on Sunday! The raceway also offers great fan-friendly and family value packs on ticket packages.
