2020 Ford Explorer vs 2020 Chevrolet Traverse near Georgetown, DE

When searching for a new SUV for your family, it can be hard to find the one that best meets your needs when there are so many options on the market. We have created this comparison review to help you narrow down the crowded segment. One the left of this comparison, we have the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer and to the right, we have the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. We are breaking down what both of these three-row SUVs have to offer from powertrain options to standard features and more!

2020 Ford Explorer Power & Handling

The standard engine for the 2020 Explorer is the 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost 4-cylinder creating 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The Platinum model is powered by a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that generates 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Under the hood of the ST trim level is the same engine pumping out 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. For the first time, a hybrid Explorer option is available, pairing a 3.3-liter V6 engine with an electric motor for 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque. In most cases, rear-wheel drive is the standard configuration while all-wheel drive is available. You will find all-wheel drive standard on the Platinum and ST trim levels. The transmission match to all engine options is a 10-speed automatic.

2020 Chevrolet Traverse Power & Handling

There is just one engine powering the entire 2020 Chevrolet Traverse model. This 3.6-liter V6 engine generates 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes with standard front-wheel drive while all-wheel drive is available depending on all trim levels except the entry-level L model. Chevrolet pairs this engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Ford Explorer Features & Design

When picking an Explorer model for your family, there are five trim levels to choose from. They include the Base, XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum. The entry-level Base model comes outfitted with standard features like a rearview camera, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver's seat, rear parking sensors, split-folding rear seats, and a power liftgate. As well as a host of standard safety features,  rear privacy glass, an 8-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, a six-speaker sound system, smartphone integration, two USB ports, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. The upper trim levels add on upgraded cloth upholstery, additional USB ports, remote engine start, steering wheel-mounted paddles shifters, power-folding mirrors, sunshades, premium sound systems, wireless charging pad, 360-degree parking camera, a two-piece sunroof, and so much more!

2020 Chevrolet Traverse Features & Design

There are seven Chevrolet Traverse trim levels to consider in the 2020 model year. The base L model comes outfitted with features like smartphone integration, 18-inch wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen, cloth upholstery, and a backup camera. The upper trim levels add on features like an upgraded infotainment system, upgraded cooling system, and second-row captain's chairs. Most of the Traverse's good features are locked behind packages making it incredibly expensive to make the Traverse model meets your wants and needs.

Conclusions
